As a project gun that was never finished, this Sako S491 represents excellent value for money. WIth the heavier 491 action from the late 1980s - 1990s, this is a workhorse rifle with a lot left to give. Having recently been re-barrelled, it now has a heavy weight 24" non-screw cut barrel. The bolt and chamber are also spotless. The action has been colour case hardened in Birmingham and the bolt handle has had a wooden aftermarket replacement. The stock is functional but rustic, being presented in a camo synthetic stock and the rifle has a floor plate magazine rather than a removable one.
