For more than 100 years, the golden rule at Norma has been precision and quality. Continuous progress stretching from the days of steel-jacketed bullets to today’s precision bullets with gilding metal jackets and bonded cores has given Norma a leading position in the world. The reason for that is simple – thoroughly planned production and tight control over everything from casting to the final product.  Norma's tried and tested true Oryx Bouned Bullet for maximum penetration and near 100% weight retention. To insure perfect mushrooming, the Oryx has thin forward jacket with internal splitting zones and a thicker rear jacket to insure high residual weight after impact. The Oryx has a rapid expansion, excellent penetration and high energy transfer. Thin forward jacket section Core soldered into jacket Pure lead core Thick rear jacket section Crimping increases dependability Bonding involves soldering together the bullet jacket and core to produce a uniform structure preventing separation or fragmentation on impact, even after striking dense bone.Oryx means good accuracy, massive mushrooming and high residual weight. This bonded design suits the all-round hunter who wishes to simplify the choice of cartridge for hunting. Oryx is available in most calibres from 222 Remington to 375 H&H Magnum. Thanks to its excellent performance, in a very few years Oryx has become the most popular of the Norma bullets. One of the most rapid opening of the bonded core bullets available on the market today, yet still giving deep penetration necessary for poor angle shots. The Oryx is intended for larger game or use at higher velocities. Muzzle Velocity: 2559 fps.

Contrary to common belief the 6,5x55 was not developed by Mauser, but was constructed by a joint Norwegian and Swedish military commission and introduced as the standard military cartridge in both countries in 1894. It has proven itself an extremely effective all-round cartridge ever since. More than a hundred years after its introduction it is still the standard round for competition shooting and one of the most popular hunting cartridges in all the three Scandinavian countries.

The reasons are obvious. The moderate velocity and the long bullet combine a mild recoil and very deep penetration - decisive factors for good shooting and a quick kill - and thereby a successful hunt.

With properly constructed bullets it is considered adequate for all game from grouse to moose.

  • Calibre: 6.5x55 SE
